Mattie Lee Falealii

November 29, 1963 — February 19, 2020

Mattie Lee Jones Faleali’i (56) of Fort Mitchell, Alabama peacefully passed in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, February 19, 2020.  She grew up in Shelbyville, Kentucky where she attended Clay Street Baptist Church at a very young age. Mattie was a former member of the United States Army. She had a personality like no other and was always full of life which made it easy for her to be loved by any and everyone.

Mattie is a graduate of Shelby County High School with her furthest pursuit of education being a Masters Degree in Education with a minor in Psychology. She was employed by the Department of Defense schools and various Federal Government positions throughout her career. She most recently taught on-line English Classes to foreign students and truly invested and impacted each and every one of her students.  She enjoyed reading, watching old black and white movies, traveling, and she was a big fan of Star Trek. Mattie loved all of her family and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  

Mattie was preceded in death by her parents James V. and Nancy Martin Jones also of Shelbyville. She is survived by her husband of over 29 years, Craig Stephen Faleali’i, one son Isaia Faleali’i and Fiancé Selina of Vilseck, Germany, four daughters; Fiapito (Joshua) Kinosh of Fort Mitchell, AL., Si’igava’a Faleali’i of El Paso, TX, Kiara Faleali’i of Huntsville, AL, and Maiah Faleali’i of Fort Michell, AL.  Mattie has three grandchildren Nicholas, James, and Leighla whom she loved dearly.  Mattie has three sisters Lettie (Tommy) Green, Janet (Michael) Dow of Shelbyville, Kentucky and Anna (Anthony) Barnes of Hampton, Virginia, one brother Tony Jones of Lexington, Kentucky. She has one niece Victoria Barnes and five nephews, Tony Jones, Jr, Terrance Jones, Karl Richardson, Jr., Anthony Barnes and Ryan Richardson and a host of other family members.
