Mattie Ree Harris

Mattie Ree Chapman Harris, 76, of Phenix City, AL passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EST, on Monday February 6, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel, Phenix City, AL.  Interment will follow at 3:00 pm EST (2:00 pm CST) at Shiloh Baptist Church cemetery in Lineville, AL.  The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm EST at Vance Memorial Chapel, Phenix City, AL. 

Mrs. Harris was born February 4, 1940 in Ashland, AL daughter of the late J. C. Chapman and Tiny Irene Bryant Chapman.  She worked for many years as a carpenter apprentice and also as a medical assistant.  Mrs. Harris was a member of White Rock Freewill Baptist Church and was a former member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Lineville, AL. 

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Danny Lee Surrett.

She is survived by two daughters, Ginny Rebecca Sewell of Clay County, AL and Brenda Ree Tillman and husband Wayne of Mobile, AL; five sons, Ronald Carl Salers and wife Elizabeth of Seattle, WA, Gregory Dale Salers and wife Laura of College Park, MD, Tim Surrett and wife Karen of Ashland, AL, Donnie Ray Surrett and wife Stacy of Auburn, AL and David Paul Lane and wife Kim of Fortson, GA, one brother, Joe Chapman and wife Barbara of Sealy, TX; seventeen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many other extended family members and friends.
