Mavis Edney

Mavis B. Edney, 88, of Columbus, GA passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm EST, on Monday, November 27, 2017, at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Pastor Seth Hon officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 2:00 until 3:00 pm EST, one hour prior to the service at Vance Memorial Chapel, Phenix City, AL.

Mrs. Edney was born on April 4, 1929 in Coffee County, AL daughter of the late Frank P. Brooks and Ouida Wise Brooks.  She retired with over 20 years of service with AFLAC.   Mrs. Edney was also a long time member of Grace Baptist Church in Columbus, GA.

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Ella Davis, Olivia Giella and Nell Diehl; one brother, Melvin Brooks.

She is survived by a daughter, Gwen Green of Phenix City, AL; two sons, Gary Knox and wife Patti of LaGrange, GA and Lance Edney of Columbus, GA; sisters, Margaret Stevens of Dade City, FL, Faye Clegg of Albany, GA and Mildred Richardson of Panama City, FL; a brother, Alvin Brooks of Plant City, FL; grandchildren, James Green and wife Sarah, Brandi Knox and Melissa Robertson; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Jacob, Jackson and Isabelle.; many other extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 2915 14th Ave, Columbus, GA 31904.
