Mavis Jean Pinckard Thomas

January 13, 1927 – November 22, 2015

Midway Ga –Mavis J. Thomas 88, passed away late Sunday evening, November 22, 2015 at her home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 2:00 pm EST at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Bishop Dino Atkins, Rev.  Ronnie Chaney and Alan Turner officiating.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home.

Mrs. Thomas was born January 13, 1927 in Coffee County, Al, daughter of the late Sam and Eula Stevens Pinckard. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Rev. Coy Thomas, daughter, Brenda Turner, brother, Norman Pinckard, and sisters Olean Dubose, Loviana Tomberlin, Verna Stevens, Carleen Head, and Joyce Dyess.

She is survived by her children, Glenda Ryals, son, Coy Michael Thomas (Vicky), Jackie W. Turner, (son- in-law), all of Phenix City, AL,  Mickey A. (Danny) Zerbel of Augusta GA, Vetina Lynn Wetzel (Wayne) of Midway GA;  Sliblings, Billy Pinckard (Betty), F L Pinckard and Faye White of Pace, FL, and Samuel Pinckard (Shirley) of Panama City, FL.

Mrs. Thomas was blessed with many grandchildren, Victor Ryals of Opelika, AL, Tim Ryals, Jeff Ryals (Julia), Kelli Sharpe (William), Christopher Thomas (Marsha), and Steven Brown all of Phenix City, AL,  Alan Turner (Amy) of Locust, NC, Tiffany Brannock (George Britt) of Augusta, GA, Stephen Zerbel (Rebecca) of Hephzibah, GA, Beth Purvee (Edwin) of Grovetown, GA, April Chambliss (Adam) of Bascom, FL, Leigh White (Shane) of Valley, AL, Will and Nathan Wetzel of Midway, GA, and Steven and Brandon Wetzel of Ellersie, GA.  Along with these blessings she is also survived by her 22 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren and many other extended family and caring friends.
