Melissa “Missy” Guidry Owens, 56, of Smiths Station, AL passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Columbus Hospice at Midtown Medical Center West. Funeral services will be held 4:00 pm EST Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Bud Passmore officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Interment will be held 10:00 am Monday morning at Lakeview Memory Gardens. Missy was born January 19, 1958 in New Orleans, LA and was the daughter of the late Noah Guidry and Olivia Marion Freeman Brown. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was deeply devoted to her family. She loved yard sales, antiques, dancing and singing, cooking, watching the Young and Restless on the tube, was a big LSU fan and was known as a fixer upper, always having some of tool with her. Missy was a sweet dear lady and a Catholic by faith. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Brad Craig. She is survived by her loving husband, H B Owens, three daughters, Tonya Jones, Christy Craig, and Tammy Dutcher, two sons, Shane Owens and wife Mandy, and Chad Owens, five sisters, Cynthia Guidry, Lydia Guidry, Tonia Guidry, Tina Theriot and husband Junior, and Julie Petticrew and husband Jerry, four brothers, Noah Guidry, Kerry Guidry and wife Barbara, Shannon Guidry and wife D'Ann, and Joe Brown and wife Liza. Sister-in-love and best friend, Vanessa Sherman, (9) grandchildren, Da'Shay, Nadia, Jada, Kaitlyn, Luke, Brayden, Blake, Joseph and Tiffany, a host nieces, nephews, extended family, and many caring friends.
