Melrose Wayne King, 76, of Columbus, Georgia entered eternal peace on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at his residence. A memorial service and gospel sing will be held at River of Life Church at 509 Idle Hour Drive, Phenix City, Alabama 36867 on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 6:00PM EST with Reverend Randy Comer officiating.
Mr. King was born January 28, 1942 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Melrose Wilford King and Mary Dolores Wommack. He prided himself in breeding and raising award winning chickens and pigeons and was an esteemed judge for many Poultry competitions. Mr. King was an extremely loved and very active member of the River of Life Church.
Melrose is survived by his wife of over 36 years, Anna Faye King of Columbus, Georgia; three daughters: Kim Harrelson and husband, Andrew, of Phenix City, AL; Vanessa Sparks and husband, Glen, of Columbus, GA; and Renee Watson of Ocala, FL; three sons: Michael Scott King of Phenix City, AL; Don Watson JR. and wife Rhonda of Aniston, AL; and Marcus Watson of Ocala FL; six grandchildren: Christopher Harrelson, Drew Harrelson, Tiffany King, Tina Ridge, Britany Smith, and Trinity Watson; and seven great-grandchildren: Jadah Gilbert, Chris Harrelson, Henlee Harrelson, Andy Harrelson, Allysa Smith, Tristin Smith, and Elizabeth Ridge.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the River of Life Building Fund.
