Michael Wayne Rutherford

Michael Wayne Rutherford, 63, of Hurtsboro, AL passed away on Wednesday, April, 12 2017 at East AL Medical Center in Opelika, AL.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm CST (3:00 pm EST) Friday April 14, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Hurtsboro, AL with Rev. Chris Webb officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Wayne was born March  2, 1954 in Cullman, AL,  son of Kathryn McCraine Summerlin and the late Phil Rutherford.  He graduated top his high school class in 1972 and enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, going to the beach and playing any string instrument.  Above all else, he loved his family, including his two dogs Buddy and Bingo.  Wayne was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Hurtsboro, AL.

He is survived by his mother, Kathryn McCraine Summerlin and husband Ivey; two sisters, Denise Bennett and husband Butch of Thomasville, GA and Bess Vann of Beauregard, AL; brothers, Dean Rutherford and wife Faye of Buckhead, GA, David Rutherford and wife Lisa of Niceville, FL, Joe Rutherford and wife Beth of Gainsville, FL and Phil Rutherford, Jr. “Son” of Fairhope, AL; numerous nieces, nephews and many other extended family members and friends.
