Michele Mccarthy Unger

Michele McCarthy-Unger, 69, of Columbus, GA passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Columbus Hospice House with her loving family by her side.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.   Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA is in charge of the arrangements.

Michele was born September 21, 1946 in Boston, MA to the late James Richard and Loretta Frances Ryan McCarthy.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Suffolk University in Boston.  She serviced in the US Army during the Vietnam War.  She also received a Bronze Star during her service.  She worked in hospital human resources in Southern California for a number of years before she relocated to Columbus, GA.    

Survivors include her loving husband of 35 years, Roger Ernest Unger; her son, Kevin Unger; a sister, Lauren Young (Dennis) of Columbus, GA; a brother, James McCarthy (Mary) of Torrance, CA; nieces, nephews and caring friends.
