Milledge "Mg" Grady Owens

Milledge “MG” Grady Owens, 79, of Phenix City, AL passed away early Sunday morning, October 1, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm EDT Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Major Tom Louden officiating..  Interment with Military Honors will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT at the funeral home.

Mr. Owens was born October 15, 1937 in Columbus, GA to the late Milledge Curtis Owens and Willie Sue Frazier Norman.  He was retired from Waggoneers Trucking in Columbus, GA and was a Veteran of the United States Army.  He enjoyed gardening, reading, and history.  He loved working as a volunteer with the Salvation Army and spending quality time with his Burnham buddies talking about old times.  He was a Baptist by faith.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Cool, his step-father, James Norman, whom loved him and raised him as his own son, two sisters, Deborah Bobrowiecki, and Patti White, and one brother, James Douglas Owens.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years,, Bonnie Jean Comer Owens of Phenix City, AL, children, Renate J. Owens Cole and spouse Shayne of Austin, TX, Kim Walker and husband Alan of Auburn, AL, Michael Kilgore and wife Stacie of Peachtree City, GA, and Shane Owens and wife Carmen of Atlanta, GA; (10) grandchildren, Rebekah Collins (Jeremy), Keith Gibbons (Jeron), Robert Cool, Lilly Walker, Justin Walker, Grace Kilgore, Sarah Kilgore, Eli Kilgore, Katelyn Owens, and Rosie Owens, (7) great grandchildren, numerous other loving family members, and many caring friends.  Online condolences may be shared at www.vancememorialchapel.net
