Mr. William “Dale” Dorrill

William “Dale” Dorrill, 62, of Salem, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Piedmont Columbus Regional-Northside in Columbus, Georgia.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm EST on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home 3738 Highway 431 North Phenix City, AL 36867, with Stoney Harrison officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (12-1:00 pm) at the funeral home.

Mr. Dorrill was born in Troy, AL, the son of the late Roy L. Dorrill and Alice Edwards Dorrill. Dale later moved to Phenix City, AL where he worked for Campbell’s Foods (formerly Tom’s Foods) until his passing. Dale was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide football fan and could always be found in front of the television when it was game time. He loved boat riding and was also known as an accomplished mechanic and carpenter. He truly enjoyed aggravating his family and playing practical jokes. Mr. Dorrill was also known for his ability to cook, often referring to his home on Saturday’s as “Dorrill’s Waffle House” where he would make mouth-watering sausage and biscuits for all. His favorite dish to eat was the signature banana pudding, made by his sister Rita. Above all, he loved his family and cherished the time they all had together. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Left to cherish Dale’s memory is his wife Cheryl Spires Dorrill; two daughters Jessica Bishop (Gary) of Salem, AL and Amy Sims (Todd) of Phenix City, AL; five sons Matthew Dorrill (Peggy) of Salem, AL, Joseph Heath Dorrill (Amanda) of Section, AL, Jonathan Powell of Phenix City, AL Brandon Powell (Laura) of Phenix City, AL and Gavin Powell of Salem, AL; three sisters Rita Leeds (Gary), Cathy Barfield (Mike) and Laura Dunman (Jerry) all of Phenix City, AL; one brother Danny Dorrill (Dawn) of Phenix City, AL; nine grandchildren Haylee, Lukas, Katlyn, Cole, Dalton, Hudson, Parker, Miller and Mayson; several other family members and many caring friends.
