Myrtle Berklite

Myrtle Wagaman Berklite, 85, of Columbus, GA passed away Friday, November 6, 2015.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 12:00pm with Bro. Grant Parker officiating, at Epworth United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 at Vance Memorial Chapel.

One of 16 children, Mrs. Berklite was born May 11, 1930 in South Mountain, PA to the late Fred Wagaman and Minnie Cauffman Wagaman. Sharing in her husband’s military dedication, Mrs. Berklite traveled the world and developed many long-lasting friendships. This commitment to service nurtured her growth as the cornerstone of her family, most often the person asked for advice by all of children and grandchildren.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ret. Airforce MSG Richard Lee Berklite.

She is survived by her children, Sherry Rae Long (Dennis) of Missouri, Pamala Ann Shores (Ted) of Smiths Station, Linda Lee Berklite of Columbus, Michael Alan Berklite of Phenix City and Deborah Sue Berklite of Phenix City; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren ; 3 sisters and 2 brothers; numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends around the world.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gentiva Hospice, 100 Brookstone Centre Pkwy, Columbus, GA 31904.
