Mrs. Myrtle Marler Wise

Mrs. Myrtle Marler Wise, 91, of Phenix City, AL passed peacefully early Sunday morning, December 17, 2023, at Magnolia Manor Assisted Living in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Rev. Steve Pace officiating.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 until 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wise was born January 31, 1932, in Coffee County, AL, daughter of the late John Henry Marler and Willie Pearl Stokes Marler.  She worked in the shipping department at Swift Textiles until she retired.  Mrs. Wise enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, dancing at the Central Activities Center, watching the Atlanta Braves and she was an excellent cook.  Her true passions were her family and her church, Summerville Baptist Church, where she was a member for over 60 years.  Mrs. Wise was a devout Christian and exhibited her love of Christ in her daily life.  She worked weekly in the Clothes Closet at the church, when she was able.  Mrs. Wise also delivered numerous meals through, Meals on Wheels, often times with her granddaughters.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James Harold Wise, four brothers, Conrye Marler, Buck Marler, Johnny Marler and Rowe Marler; and a sister, Lillie Phelps.

She is survived by two sons, Gerald Wise of Smiths Station, AL, and Brent Wise and wife Stacy of Phenix City, AL; a sister, Betty Simmons and husband G. T. of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren, Lacey Becker (Dave), Ivey Lapidus (Josh), Ellie Woodham, and Addison Woodham; one great-grandchild, Alice James Becker; several nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and many caring friends.
