Mrs. Nadine Segrest Dean McClain, 96, of Columbus, GA passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA.
A funeral service will be held 12:30 pm EST on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Ricky Ward officiating. Internment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 12:30 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Mrs. McClain was born March 10, 1925 in Loachapoka, AL, daughter of the late William M. Segrest and Gertrude Craft Segrest Carmack. She retired from Sunshine Biscuit with over 20 years of service. Mrs. McClain was a charter member of White Rock Freewill Baptist Chuch, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She also enjoyed playing musical instruments and singing but her passion was meeting people, sharing her Lord, Jesus Christ and spending time with her family.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Paul Dean, Sr. and Grady M. McClain; a son, Paul “Pete” Dean, Jr.; a sister, Gail Brown; brothers, Bo Segrest, Freddie Hart Segrest, Olin Segrest, Junior Segrest, J.P. Carmack, Lonnie Carmack and Marrell Carmack.
She is survived by a daughter, Sherry Gardner and husband Mel of Smiths Station, AL; step-children, Vickie Kuhn of Cleveland, TN and Terry McClain and wife Peggy of Phenix City, AL; two sisters, Annie Pearl Carmack of Talladega, AL and Sandra Carmack of TN; a brother, Harold Dean Carmack of Gadsden, AL; two grandchildren, William Paul Gardner and wife Jennifer of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Jennifer Paige Gardner of Phenix City, AL; great-grandchildren, Caleb (Kaytea), Stephan, Luke and Aidan; one great-great-grandchild expected to be born in April; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
