Mrs. Cureton was born April 19, 1955 in Springfield, MO daughter of the late James Albert Deckard and Charlotte Alberta Deckard McAlister. She was a former EMT who loved to shop, especially on QVC, so much so that she and the UPS driver were on a first name basis. She loved to do crafts and sew, creating beautiful items for her family and friends. She was mom, not only to her two kids but also opened her heart and home to all of their friends and was called mom by so many. Once she became a Nana, she was Nana to everyone that loved her. We will remember all of the laughter and happiness she brought whenever she was around, the fun times, happy days and unconditional love she shared with everyone around her. There was nothing she loved more in life than her family and spending time with them.
Mrs. Cureton was preceded in death by her parents and her step-dad, Robert James “Mac” McAlister; sister, Linda Michaud and a niece, Kristina Swinford.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Joey Cureton, Smiths Station, AL; two daughters, April Tidwell, Ft. Mitchell, AL and Sherry Jenkins (Chris), Smiths Station, AL; one sister, Mary Bruce (Mike) and two brothers, Wayne McAlister (Rhonda) and Robert “Bobby” McAlister (Tammy); six grandchildren, Brian Tidwell, Tyler Tidwell, Alexis Cureton, Apryl Rodgers (Tristan), Michael Chinell and Hailey Tidwell; four great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Norman “Jr” Michaud; her life long friends Kathy Morgan, Debbie Schultz and Pam Atkinson; numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
