Nellie Ruth Corbitt

Nellie Ruth Burns Corbitt, 96, of Seale, AL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Kindred Hospice in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm EDT on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. David Wilson officiating.  A private interment will follow at Seale Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to service on Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Corbitt was born December 12, 1921 in Warrior, AL to Henry Lewis Burns and Martha Ann Thomas Burns.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whom was very devoted to her family.  She enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, and loved spending special times with all her family.  She was a Baptist by faith.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ulysses Lewis Corbitt, Sr., one son, Charles Eugene Corbitt, sister, Irene Jett, and four brothers, Gene Burns, Ulysses Burns, Robert Burns, and Carl Burns.

She is survived by her children, Ulysses Lewis Corbitt, Jr. and wife Ronna, James Ray Corbitt, and Carolyn Ann O’Keefe and husband Kevin Charles O’Keefe, daughter-in-law, Marcia Corbitt, two brothers, Ed Burns, and Burt Burns and wife Evelyn, (10) grandchildren, (17) great grandchildren, and (6) great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends
