Mrs. Brooks, daughter of the late Thomas and Nealy Bell, was born September 17, 1923 in Coffee County, Alabama. She was retired from Fieldcrest Mills where she worked faithfully for many years. Mrs. Brooks was a member of Golden Acres Baptist Church. She loved spending time working in her yard, but always looked forward to fishing. Mrs. Brooks had such a love for cats that she always left water and part of her lunch in the carport for any neighborhood cats. She also enjoyed cooking and baking cakes for family and friends. The family remembers her as a proud feisty and outspoken woman with a giving heart who always enjoyed helping others.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward Brook, six sisters; Letty Wilkins, Lila Bell, Lola Allen, Lucille Ward, Mary Lee Williams, Ruth West; and one brother, Roy Bell. She is survived by nieces; nephews; many other relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Staff of Phenix City Healthcare for the three years of excellent care she received while there, as well as to the Staff of Columbus Hospice for the loving care received at the end of her life.
