Nonnie Stewart Bunting

November 5, 1930 — May 4, 2020

Nonnie Mae Stewart Bunting, age 89, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 4, 2020.  Private funeral services are being held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, Alabama with Reverend Ritchie Ashburn and Reverend Alvie Walker officiating.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Bunting, daughter of the late John Thomas Norris and Annie Mae Chancelor Norris, was born November 5, 1930 in Pike County, Alabama.  After high school, Mrs. Bunting attended and graduated from Beautician’s School and began a career in Troy, Alabama.  Later, she moved to the Columbus/Phenix City area where she worked at LeMaster’s Beauty Salon, and in the early 70’s she then opened her own business and operated Beauty Hut until her retirement.  Mrs. Bunting was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church, where she was very involved with her Sunday School class and WMU.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Bunting served the Lord and had a great passion for gardening.  She enjoyed spending time as a seamstress and possessed that unique quality of life.  The family remembers her as a lady who loved the Lord and took comfort in the many successes she had throughout her life.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Bunting was preceded in death by her first husband of 25 years, Lance Sanders Stewart; her second husband of 19 years, Ladon “Don” Bunting; and brothers, James C. Norris and Marvin A. Norris.

She is survived by two sons, Dwaine Lance Stewart and John Edward Stewart, both of Phenix City, Alabama; one sister, Ruth Walker of Troy, Alabama; one brother, Wayne Norris of Millbrook, Alabama; grandson, John Nichlaus Stewart; great-grandson, Turner Stewart; many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Columbus Hospice at www.columbushospice.com
