Norman “Phillip” Barr, age 66, of Acworth, Georgia, and formally of Smiths Station, Alabama passed away on Sunday November 11, 2018. Phillip was born April 9, 1952 in Phenix City, AL. Phillip was a devoted husband to his wife, Peggy of 42 years, loving father, grandfather and brother. He was employed with the Southern Company with 42 years of loyal service. He enjoyed watching Alabama football and golfing, and enjoyed gardening tomatoes, and jalapeno peppers. He had a special way of canning his jalapeno peppers and loved giving them as gifts during Christmas. Phillip was a member of Smiths Station Baptist Church; he truly loved our Lord and Savior. He will be missed and loved by all that knew him. Phillip is survived by his wife of 42 years, Peggy Barr; daughter, Kristy Harris; and son-in-law Rick Harris; sister, Kay Chastain; grandson Jake Taylor, mother–in-law, Myrtlene Jeter, along with several nieces and numerous loving extended family members. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents Johnnie Tildon Barr and Katie Owens Barr.
A celebration of life funeral service will be held 2:00 pm EST Friday, November 16, 2018 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Dr. David Kees officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday beginning at 1:00 pm just prior to the service at the funeral home in Phenix City.
