Opal Kennedy

Mrs. Opal Kennedy, 90, of Columbus, GA passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, GA.  A funeral service will be held at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Friday, June 30, 2017 beginning at 3:00 P.M EST with Jack Langford officiating.  A private burial service will be held at Parkhill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. EST.  

Mrs. Kennedy was born August 9, 1926 in East Newman, GA to the late Leroy Washington and Velma Carroll Washington.  She was Baptist by faith. She retired from Sunshine Biscuit Company as a packer.  She loved her family, cooking and gardening.   

Other than her parents, Mrs. Kennedy is predeceased by her husbands:  Eddie Blair, Otis Bass and W.L. “Dub” Kennedy; a sister, Geneva Stanford; a son-in-law, Troy Brandon; and a grandson, Richard Curtis.

Survivors include her son, Jack Blair (Jackie); two daughters:  Linda Lawrence and Juanita Brandon; a son-in-law, James Lawrence; a cousin and friend, June Langford; nine grandchildren:  Sheree Gregory, LuAnn Heath (Richard), Jana Henderson (Ray), Jason Blair (Torrey), Jamen Blair (Melissa), Cherish Lawrence, Chaston Vogel (Bryan), Nathan Brandon and Elizabeth Brandon; twenty-three great grandchildren and seventeen great, great grandchildren.
