Otto Scarborough

September 15, 1924 — August 16, 2017

Otto Scarborough, 92, of Valley, AL passed away early Wednesday morning, August 16, 2017 in the comfort of his home.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon EDT on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Auburn Heights Baptist Church in Phenix City with his loving family officiating.  The family will receive friends on Saturday just prior to the noon time service at the church and also for a short time after the memorial service.   A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery.

Mr. Scarborough was born September 15, 1924 in Muscogee County, GA, son of the late William Turner Scarborough and Myra Renfroe Scarborough.  He retired from the Columbus Water Works, was former owner of Scarborough’s Service Center, and served as a distributor for the Columbus Ledger Enquirer.  He was a member of AARP, and Lake Wedowee Property Owners Association.  Mr. Scarborough was saved and Baptized at Second Baptist Church and was a member of Auburn Heights Baptist Church.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his beautiful bride of 65 years, Estelle Medley Scarborough, three sisters Aurelia Strickland, Mavis McCall, and Evelyn Wallace, and a brother, Maurice Scarborough.

He is survived by his children, William “Jerry” Scarborough, CPA, Founder and President of MorningStar International Ministries and his wife Linda of Salem, AL, Dr. Wayne Scarborough, Pastor of Auburn Heights Baptist Church and his wife Rhonda of Phenix City, AL, Linda Scarborough Keown and her husband Rev. Charles Keown, Minister of Music / Senior Adults at Lakewood Baptist Church of Phenix City, AL, and Rev. Steven Michael Scarborough, Pastor of Refuge Baptist Church and his wife Dee of Tallassee, AL,  one brother, Farris Scarborough and his wife Ramona, (13) grandchildren, (10) great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and many caring friends.
