Mrs. Pamela Sue Smith Beauchamp passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at Columbus Hospice on Friday, June 21st, 2024.
Pam was born in Columbus, Georgia on January 19, 1948, to the late Dr. Carlton Smith and Mrs. Juliaette Smith. She graduated from Central High School in 1966 and from The Medical Center Nursing School in 1969. A caregiver at heart, Pam went on to work many years as a nurse at Cobb Hospital in Phenix City.
In 1977, she married the late Mr. Jim Beauchamp. Pam and Jim were devoted parents to Kash, Tim, Ann Rene, Shanna and Lauren. While her devotion to her family was apparent in the many years, she spent raising children and traveling for Jim’s baseball career, nothing quite compared to the love she had for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friendly, funny and always welcoming with her sweet smile, Pam’s world revolved around her loved ones, and it was evident to all who knew her. She never met a stranger and was a friend to so many.
Pam was preceded in death by her husband Jim; her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Carlton Smith; and her in-laws, Mr. Dennis and Mrs. Beulah Beauchamp.
She is survived by her children Kash Beauchamp (Penny), Tim Beauchamp, Ann Rene DePietri (Rich), Shanna Rich (Andy), and Lauren Lee; her sisters Jan Smith Stanton and Joy Smith Little and brother, Larry Windsor (Linda); grandchildren Kyle Beauchamp (Lexi), Kaleigh Phillips (JT), Kobe Beauchamp, Rachel Jackson (JD), Brooke Lee (Cam), Becca Lee, Sarah Jayne DePietri, and Noel Rich; great-grandchildren Hazel Philips, Cora Beauchamp, Willow McClain and Leon Jackson; and numerous family and friends.
The family would like to thank Pam’s home health nurses and caregivers, as well as the staff at Columbus Hospice for their support and care during this difficult time. Pam was a blessing to all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm EDT on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Rev. David Hammonds officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm EDT prior to her service at the funeral home in Phenix City.
