Pamela Joyce Shafer

Pamela Joyce Shafer, 67, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, September 16, 2022, at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown, while surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM EST on Saturday, September 24, 2022, in the chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, located at 3738 Highway 431 North, Phenix City, AL, with Rev. Jimmy McClain officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Shafer was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma the daughter of the late Ennis W. Thorn and Marlene Joyce Thorn. Being from a military family, she moved to Dallas, Texas where she met her husband at church. Later because of her husband’s employment, the family moved to Smiths Station, AL. Mrs. Shafer was a homemaker, which was a calling that she truly loved. She enjoyed ministering in several capacities, but none greater than working with children. Pamela also enjoyed music and she loved singing for the Lord. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also worked in a number of careers including as secretary for a law office, manager of multiple daycares, secretary for an insurance company, telephone operator, and drug store clerk.
Left to cherish Mrs. Shafer’s memory is her husband of 42 years Gary Shafer; sons, Jacob Shafer (Holly) of Monroe, WA, Nathan Shafer (Laura) of Opelika, AL, Daniel Shafer of Atlanta, GA, Matthew Shafer of Smiths Station, AL and Zachary Shafer of Smiths Station, AL; sisters, Barbara Pitman (Kevin) Hurst, TX, Janie Reid (Kirk) of Lancaster, TX and Lisa Sheehan (Tommy) of Choctaw, OK and grandchildren, Lily, Clover, Callie, Juniper, Tansy, Aella and Ophelia.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Mrs. Shafer’s memory.
