Pamela Strength Harris, 74, of Smiths Station, AL passed away at her home on Friday, August 18, 2023.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 Wednesday, August 22, 2023, at Lakewood Baptist Church with Rev. M.R. Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6pm-8pm (EST) at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 Hwy 431 N, Phenix City, AL 36867.
Mrs. Harris was born July 31, 1949, in Opelika, AL, daughter of the late Ocie Paul Strength and Emmie Ruth Funderburk. Pam graduated from Central High School in 1967. She married her husband Mike on March 3, 1968. Pam was a devoted wife and mother to three. Her family and love for God were primary focus of her life. She retired from Atmos Energy after 42 years of continuous service. In her free time, Pam was a fixture at the local ball fields supporting her children in their extra-curricular activities. Pam was a huge fan of University of Alabama Football. She was an active member of Lakewood Baptist Church where she volunteered as a Sunday School teacher and was a proud member of the AMEN choir.
Pam was tirelessly devoted to serving others. She was a dependable volunteer always available to help when called. Pam was blessed with a servant’s heart, and she blessed others with her willingness to serve. She never met a stranger and was always willing to strike up a conversation with friends and strangers alike. Pam was a blessing to her family and to all those whom she encountered.
Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her parents, Ocie Paul Strength, Emmie Ruth Funderburk, her stepfather Archie Funderburk, and her daughter Allison Hightower.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, William Michael (Mike) Harris, Smith Station, AL; two children: Jason Harris, Tuscaloosa, AL, Cortney Haywood (T.J.), Dothan, AL; son in law Chad Hightower, Columbus, GA; two brothers: Paul Strength (Reba) , Phenix City, AL, Craig Funderburk, Columbus, GA; seven grandchildren: Alexandria Hightower, Ryan Harris, Austin Hightower, Riley Harris, Caroline Harris, Will Haywood, Emmie Haywood, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
