Pamela S. Taylor, age 79, resident of Senoia, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at her residence. Memorial services will be held at the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia on Thursday, March 9. 2023, 4 p.m. with Reverend Larry West officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 6-8 p.m.
Mrs. Taylor, daughter of the late William Edmond Smith and Rachel Daniels Smith, was born December 25, 1943 in Unadilla, Georgia. Mrs. Taylor was a retired school teacher, having worked for Muscogee County School District for more than 38 years. During her distinguished teaching career, she taught U.S. History and Advanced Placement (AP) U.S. History at Hardaway High School.
Mrs. Taylor was a graduate of Shorter College where she received her baccalaureate degree, going on to receive a 6-year Specialist degree from Troy State University.
Mrs. Taylor attended Wesley United Methodist Church in Brunswick, Georgia until her move to Senoia. She was an avid reader of history, particularly that related to American history, enjoyed travel, needlepoint and sewing, and gardening. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband of more than 51 years, Clarence O. Taylor III.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by two sons, Clarence O. “Rentz” Taylor, IV and his wife Alicia “Nan” of Marietta, Georgia and Robert Taylor and his wife Veronica of Senoia, Georgia; two brothers, Steve Smith and his wife Janey of Danville, California and Terrell Smith and his wife Betty of Kathleen, Georgia; and many grandchildren including the youngest, Rayna Pamela Taylor, who carries on her name.
