Pansy Williamson Slocumb, 90, of Phenix City, AL, joined Heaven’s Choir on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, while at Columbus Hospice House, Columbus, GA, with her family by her side.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, September 30, 2022, at Lakewood Baptist Church, Phenix City, AL, with Rev. Charles Keown officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. A private family interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:30 AM at the church on Friday.
Mrs. Slocumb was born July 13, 1932, in Phenix City, AL, daughter of the late William “Bill” Walter Williamson and Lura Bell Sellers Williamson. She was the Principal of Sherwood Elementary and Phenix City Middle School. Mrs. Slocumb was an active member of Lakewood Baptist Church where she played the organ, piano and sang in the Alleluia Choir. She also was a member of the Amen Choir. Her love of teaching, singing, and playing has ministered to untold numbers of students and adults. We know she is now enjoying being part of Heaven’s Choir.
In addition to her parents, Bill and Lura Bell Williamson, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Ray Williamson.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Carl David Slocumb; a son, Joel David Slocumb (Pam); a daughter, Jan Slocumb Baker (Gary), one sister, Brenda Williamson Martin (Lamar) and one sister-in-law, Sara Slocumb Cannon (Olease); six grandchildren, Martin Joel Slocumb (Ashley), Caitlin Slocumb Ennis (Griffin), Miles Slocumb, Collin Ray (Shannon), Laurie Beth Baker, Cameron Baker, John Flowers (Erin), Sarah Bass (Tyler) and Thomas Flowers; 5 great-grandchildren, Dallas Coleman, Tatum Ennis, William Trail, Beckett Bass, and Shepherd Bass; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Choir Ministery, C/O Lakewood Baptist Church, 4011 Lakewood Dr., Phenix City, AL 36867 or www.lbcpc.org .
