Patricia Olds Harris

Patricia Olds Harris, 77, of Columbus, GA passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024. A funeral service will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 beginning at 11:45am with Rev. Ken Dawson officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 10:45am. Interment will be at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery at 1:30pm.

 Patricia, also known as Pat, Tersher, or Trisha, was born September 8, 1946 in Louisville, Alabama to the late Roy Gideon Olds and the late Jewell Whigham Olds. Patricia started her career at Woolworths in downtown Columbus working at the lunch counter, then went on to work as a credit manager at Diana Shops, which was a women’s clothing retail chain. She retired as the cook at Children’s Friend Learning Center. This was the best of both worlds for her because she loved cooking for others and loved children. Seeing the smiles on their faces when tasting her delicious meals always made her day! The children would brag to their parents about her cooking, and that brought a warmth to her heart like nothing else.

  Patricia loved keeping touch with and visiting family near and far. She had an infectious personality and smile but also a big and tender heart. She loved singing Southern gospel music in church on Sundays and listening to her favorite gospel and Christmas music by musicians like the Chuck Wagon Gang, Bill Gaither, Loretta Lynn and Elvis. Patricia loved family vacations and shopping at outlet malls, gardening, helping others, buying gifts and cards for others and playing cards and various board games. She attended the grandkids’ sporting events and award ceremonies when able. She will forever be in our hearts, minds and souls and loved and missed dearly.

 Patricia was an incredibly devoted military wife for 40 years to her husband, Kenneth Lamar Harris, Sr. of LaGrange, Georgia. She was also an amazing mother and grandmother to her two daughters Angela Olds (fiancée Christophe Greer) of Columbus, Georgia and Tracey Olds of Fortson, Georgia, as well as 4 grandchildren, John (Erica) Fecso, Christopher (Malorie) Fecso, Conner Olds and Caleb Grantham. She was also a great-grandmother to Ashton and Annabeth Fecso and Jayson Ward and was so excited about the newest great-grandbaby on the way. In addition, Patricia is survived by her sister Mary Ann (Walter) Fuller and a host of extended family and friends. 

 Other than her parents, Patricia is preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 40 years Kenneth Lamar Harris, brother Larry Daniel Olds, and sister Martha Ellen Brooks.
