Mrs. Patricia Arlene LaPointe Covel, 84, of Smiths Station, AL, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Covel was born February 6, 1937 in Utica, NY, daughter of the late Joseph H. LaPointe and Verna Carey LaPointe. She was one of the first members of her family to obtain a college degree. Mrs. Covel worked for many years as a bookkeeper. She was a faithful member of the Jehovah’s Witness Church in Salem, AL. Her hobbies included making ceramics and playing cards.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Arthur Covel, Jr.; two sisters, Jaquelyn and Barbara; and a brother, H. J. LaPointe.
Mrs. Covel is survived by her loving children, Stephen Arthur Covel of Geneva, GA, Amy L. Adams and husband Mark of Prattville, AL Todd Randall Covel and wife Tina of Smiths Station, AL and Claudette E. Grant of Madison, AL;
sisters, Muriel Gajan of Columbus, GA, Sandra Malagese and husband Tony of Utica, NY and Beverly Lerch of Utica, NY; grandchildren, Nicole Covel Lett (Chip), Stephanie Covel Ray (Travis), Nicholas Covel (Alexis), Jeremy Grant (Brianna), Justin Grant and Jessica Bannister Robinson; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Benjamin, Braxton, Robby Taylor, Rhilee, Dylan and Ellie Grace; numerous, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
