Peggy “Joyce” Bray

Peggy Joyce Bray, 86, of Columbus, GA passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Magnolia Manor. A graveside service will be held at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Saturday, March 25, 2023 beginning at 2:00 PM with John Gay and Justin Jordan officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Columbus. A special memorial service honoring Joyce will be held sometime during April at North Highland Assembly of God. The date and time will be announced when plans are finalized.

Joyce was born on October 24, 1936 in LaGrange, GA to the late Gerson and Lillian Garner. She was employed for several years with the Columbus Consolidated Government where she worked as a secretary for the Columbus Police Department. Joyce was a faithful and beloved member of North Highland Church where she led the prison team ministry for many years. During her retirement, Joyce authored two books, “Memories, a Vital Part of Grief” and “Delivered From Meetings — Sent to Prison”.

Other than her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her husband James “Pete” Allen Bray and brothers Wallace Garner and Eddie Garner.

She was a loving and faithful mother to her daughters Pam Powell of Columbus, GA and Kathy Jordan (Gary) of Ellerslie, GA and was known as “Ma” by her five grandchildren, Michael Powell, Amber Morris (Caleb), Sara Beth Wyatt (Matt), Justin Jordan (Julie), and James Jordan (Alissa); and thirteen great-grandchildren, Ames Morris, Ezra Morris, Anne Margaret Morris, Caleb Morris, Luke Wyatt, Hadley Wyatt, Lanier Wyatt, Gentry Wyatt, Boaz Jordan, Jack Jordan, Lucy Jordan, Asa Jordan, and Brooks Jordan.
