Peggy Joyce Roberts

Peggy Joyce Dennis Roberts, 88, of Phenix City, AL passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm EST, on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel, with Rev. M. R. Hamilton officiating.  A private interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm EST at Lakewood Baptist Church.

Mrs. Roberts was born December 15, 1928 in Phenix City, AL daughter of the late Jed N. Dennis and Gordean Henderson Dennis.  She was a faithful member of North Phenix Baptist Church for 58 years, serving in many areas and teaching the Joy Sunday School class for many years.  She also worked as a church secretary there at one time.  Mrs. Roberts worked at Eagle and Phenix Mill and Fieldcrest Mill in the personnel department.  She loved her friends, family, and church.  Mrs. Roberts loved to cook and send food to them.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arthur “Chuck” Roberts, Jr in January.  Chuck and Peggy were married 69 years.

She is survived by one son, Kenny Roberts and wife Cindy of Phenix City, AL; one grandchild, Kelli Roberts Poteet and husband Brad of Phenix City, AL.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law Peggy Barnes and husband Ancil and a brother-in-law, Dennis Austin, all of Phenix City, AL; another brother-in-law, James Roberts of Morgan City, LA.  Additionally, she also had many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
