Peter Dudoit Bush, Sr., 87, of Smiths Station, Alabama, went to be with his Lord on Monday, July 3, 2023, at Jack Hughston Hospital in Phenix City, Alabama.
A Graveside Service with military honors will be held at 10:00 AM EST on Friday, July 7, 2023, at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Bishop David Jones and Bishop Vernon McCoy officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM EST at Vance Brooks Funeral Home located at 3738 U.S. Highway 431 North Phenix City, AL.
Mr. Bush was born in Kaunakakai, Hawaii, the son of the late Samuel Bush and Eugenia Dudoit Bush. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country for twenty-eight years. After retirement from active duty, he began working with the Civil Service as an instructor with Battle Simulation Lab. When Mr. Bush was not working, he enjoyed playing golf and was very proficient at the game. For many years, Peter served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross at Ft. Benning. Mr. Bush was also a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and he enjoyed serving his church, to include being a Missionary for the church at Ft. Benning. Peter also enjoyed playing native Hawaiian music and hosting luaus. Above all, he loved his large family and enjoyed spending time with them.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bush was preceded in death by his first wife Anna Lankes Bush; daughter Anna Bush; Brother Alfred Bush; Sisters Rachel Smith, Pauline Pezel, Virginia Apana and Lily Kahalehili.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of twenty-five years Shirley Otts Bush; daughters Monalisa Nielson of Fargo, ND, Ramona Lee (Andrew) of Columbus, GA, Melinda Ruehle (John) of Columbus, GA, Susan Moss-Wagner (Robert) of Phenix City, AL, Lucille Eiland (James H.) of Phenix City, AL, Tina Frazier (Kevin Huckaby) of Phenix City, AL, and Amber Eiland of Smiths Station, AL; sons Pete Bush Jr. of Columbus, GA, Samuel Bush of Ellerslie, GA and Aaron Bush of Phenix City, AL; sister Darlyn Nobriga of Kilua, HI; brother Henry Bush (Sybil) of Kaunakakai, HI; twenty-three grandchildren and thirty-five great grandchildren.
