Mr. Phillip Newsome

Phillip O Newsome, 77, of Smiths Station, AL, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at his home in Smiths Station, Alabama.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL, with Reverend Jeff Dravenscot officiating. The internment will be held at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, June 18, 2021, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 Hwy 431 N, Phenix City, AL.

Phillip was born on September 29, 1943, in Phenix City, AL, the son of Herbert O Newsome and Lettie Adams Newsome. He worked as a pipefitter/welder local 52 for 55 years. Phillip was Baptist by faith and was a member of Midway Baptist Church. He loved his family, going fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors with his grandchildren. Phillip will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by Father, Herbert O Newsome; Mother, Lettie Newsome; and brother Bryan Newsome.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Jackie Newsome, three daughters, Deborah Celeste Montoya, Jodi Newsome Nelson, Melani Newsome (Troy) Bell; two sons, Michael Scott, Jeffery (Jesse) Scott; three sisters, Judith Ann (Bill) Rodzwitz, Virginia Grant, Donna Kenny; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; as well as several extended family and caring friends.

Pallbearers are William Miller, Michael Bellury, Ocie Freeman, Leslie Perkins, Charles Franklin, Jon Lewis and Honorary Pallbearer, Allen Roelkey.
