Phyllis Marie Johnson Rathke, 52, of Phenix City, AL, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am EST, on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at River of Life Church in Phenix City with Rev. Michael Warren and Rev. Randy Comer officiating. The family will receive friends at the memorial service on Saturday.
Mrs.. Rathke was born on May 4, 1964, in Andalusia, AL, the daughter of Morgan and Wilma Johnson. She was a graduate of Glenwood High School in 1982 and enjoyed being in the marching and jazz bands in Central High School and Glenwood High School. Phyllis was an upbeat person that found humor in any situation and was an encouraging compassionate person to those that were in need. She had the opportunity to travel to India and Israel and was a woman of great faith that guided her through her lifetime. She loved animals and spending time with her family, friends and coworkers. Her favorite hobby was spending time with her niece, Abigail and leading worship. She will be missed by all who loved her.
Other than her father, Morgan Johnson, she is preceded in death a brother, John Morgan Johnson.
She is survived by husband Richard W. Rathke of Phenix City, AL; mother, Wilma Collins Johnson Norsworthy, husband Bob of Phenix City, AL; sister Karen Warren, husband Michael of Blakely, GA; a special niece, Abigail Warren; extended family members and many caring friends.
