Qumy Broadwater Taylor, 79 of Phenix City, AL passed away Saturday morning, September 6, 2014 in the comfort of her daughter's home in Phenix City, AL. Graveside services will held 3:00 pm EDT Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Salem with Chaplain Dean Knipe officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City. Mrs. Taylor was born October 13, 1934 in Phenix City, AL to the late Eulus B. Broadwater and Daisy Elkins Broadwater. She was retired from Ampex in Opelika, AL and was a member of Crawford United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping, eating chocolate and basketball, and in her younger high school years, was the captain of her high school basketball team. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was extremely dedicated to her children and grandchildren. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her hero and husband, James A. Taylor, one brother, Ben Broadwater and five sisters, Mary Sharp, Helen Lockhart, Rosa Williams, Cleo McCart and Catherine Sherman. She is survived by her children, Kay Grogan and husband Jim of Fort Mitchell, AL, Ray Taylor, Gene Taylor, Robert Taylor, and Carol Howle and husband Toby all of Phenix City, AL; two sisters, Cora Kite and husband Neil of Crawford, AL and Nellie Gray and husband Charles of Phenix City, AL, one brother, Joe Broadwater and wife Ruth of Dixie, AL. Grandchildren, Jay Grogan (Denise), Staci Colley (Dale), Daphne Taylor Walker (Sam), Brandon Boswell, Jade Boswell, Kalen Boswell (Haylee), Cassie Taylor and India Atkinson; great grandchildren, Austin, Katlin, Colby, Gracie, Jada, Taylor, Robert, Reese, Sarah, Kayden James, Kayla, Josh and Ryan, one great great granddaughter, Chloe, numerous other family members and many caring friends.
