Raiford Eugene "Gene" Wright, Jr.

Raiford Eugene “Gene” Wright, Jr., 60, of Cataula, GA passed away Monday, August 13, 2018 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, GA.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held 11:00 am EST on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Rivertown Church in Columbus, GA with Pastor David Rathel officiating.  A private interment at a later date will be held by his loving family.  The family will receive friends at the memorial service on Saturday at the church.

Gene was born April 23, 1958 in Columbus, GA to the late Raiford Eugene Wright, Sr. and Elsie Mae Temples Edwards.  He had worked with Gold Star Cab Company and also as professional sales associate.  He served our country and was a Veteran of the United States Marines.  He was a Christian by faith.  He enjoyed golf, the horse races, playing poker and chess, shooting pool, spending time with his family and his buddies, watching Ric Flair and professional wrestling, the Kentucky Derby, and was a huge Auburn Tiger fan.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father who loved him as his own son, Thomas Edwards.

He is survived by his sons, Samuel “Sammy” Wright, Chris Wright and wife Summer, Mike Wright, and Marshall Baca and wife Chandra, three sisters, Grace Faircloth and husband Glenn, Lori Hudson and husband Jimmy, and Angie Briechtelsbauer and husband Brian, and one brother, Darrel Wright; (12) grandchildren, Kelsey Hill, Devon Wright, Chance Hill, Patrick Castillo, Colby Hill, Tye Hill, Conner Wright, Corey Wright, Will Hill, Hannah Baca-Russell, Breezy Wright, and Madeleine Huffmyer-Baca, and one precious great granddaughter, Scarlet Jane Castillo, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.
