Ray Shiver, 90, of Phenix City, AL passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015 at the Columbus Hospice Midtown Facility in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm EST Monday, August 31, 2015 at Vance Memorial Chapel with Minister Mark Martin and Minister Tony Clay officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Shiver was born April 12, 1925 in Tennille, AL, son of the late Alto Shiver and Nancy Graves Shiver. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and later owned and operated his own Barber Shop in Phenix City, AL. Mr. Shiver was also a member of the Phenix City Church of Christ.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Chadwick Shiver; one sister, Lucille Tomberlin; and five brothers, G. B. Shiver, Cecil Shiver, Virgil Shiver, Elmer Shiver and Bennett Shiver.
He is survived by his son Bobby Shiver and wife Carol of Phenix City, AL; three grandchildren, Matthew Shiver and wife Tiffany, Andrew Shiver and wife Leah and Benjamin Shiver; six great-grandchildren, Emma Shiver, Gabriel Shiver, Elijah Shiver, Elizabeth Shiver, Hannah Shiver and Adah Shiver; numerous other loving family members and caring friends.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Phenix City Church of Christ at P. O. Box 1046, Phenix City, AL 36868.
