Ray Leatherwood

Ray Leatherwood, 59, of Phenix City, AL passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Epworth United Methodist Church with Rev. Grant Parker officiating, according to Vance Memorial Chapel.  The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.  Pallbearers will be Jason Stamp, Chris Bass, Ralph Harrison, Donnie Smith, Greg Sanders and Stan Grissette.

Ray was born April 30, 1956 in Phenix City, AL, son of Toshiko Leatherwood and the late Herman Ray Leatherwood.  He was the owner of Leatherwood and Sons in Phenix City, AL and was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church.  Ray was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.  He loved life and his family, had a generous soul and never met a stranger.  Ray always had a smile on his face and will be greatly missed.

Other than his mother, he is survived by his loving wife Tammy Dykes Leatherwood of Phenix City, AL; two daughters, Kristy Exum and husband Jacob of Smiths Station, AL and Rebecca Tarleton of Phenix City, AL; one son, Brett Leatherwood and wife Beth of Phenix City, AL; one sister, Linda Bass and husband Cody of Phenix Ctiy, AL; one brother, Paul Stamp and wife Sheril of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren, Richard Vitzen, Taya Shirley, Kaylee Brooke Exum, Deacon and Davis Leatherwood; Bill and Dorothy Dykes; several nieces and nephews, many other loving family members and numerous friends.
