Ray Martin

Ray Martin, age 93, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at his residence. Graveside services are scheduled at Lakeview Memory Gardens Cemetery, 3800 Hwy 280/431N, Phenix City, Alabama on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, 2 p.m. with Reverend Greg Hyche officiating, according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, Alabama.
Mr. Martin, son of the late Homer T. Martin and Mollie Aaron Martin, was born May 28, 1927 in Russell County, Alabama. He was retired from Kirven’s Department Store.s. Mr. Martin loved the Christmas season and was the person responsible for the beautiful window dressing during the Christmas Season at Kirven’s. He attended Ladonia Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge Chapter#1876, Phenix City. Mr. Martin enjoyed golfing, fishing, and gardening. He also enjoyed traveling, particularly those trips with his good friend Wesley Capps to Montana.
Besides his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded In death by his wife, Mabry Cruce Martin; a son, Ray Douglas Martin Jr.; a daughter, Molly Murray; a great-grandson, Zachary Cohen Corbett; a brother, Cecil Martin; and a sister, Doris Gilbert.
He is survived by one daughter, Jan Corbett and her husband Mike of Phenix City, Alabama; sister-in-law, Rebecca Martin of Phenix City; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
