Readie S. Hornsby

Readie S. Hornsby, 92, of Columbus, GA passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Orchard View Health Care in Columbus, GA.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 pm EST Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon one hour prior to graveside service at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.

Mrs. Hornsby was born October 3, 1923 in Brantley, AL to Buddy Sasser and Ola Kidd Sasser.  She had worked with Swift Textile, was a sales representative with Avon, and had worked in the grocery business.  She enjoyed traveling with her pet dog, fishing, and gardening, and was a member of the E J Knight Senior Center, and the Open Door Community in Columbus.  She was a member of Bethel Tabernacle Assembly of God Church.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Huey Elbert Hornsby, an infant child, two sisters, Trudie Hall, and Julie Beck, two brothers, Ijohn Sasser, and Kie Sasser, and close friend and neighbor, Janice Spears.

She is survived by a special niece, Linda Sparks, several other nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews, and her loving pet dog Angie.
