SSG (Ret) Everitt L. Dart, age 78, resident of Smiths Station, Alabama, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital. Graveside services are scheduled at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, 12:30 p.m. (EST) with Reverend Ricky Ward officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, Alabama.
SSG Dart, son of the late Kenneth Glenn Dart and Lucille Bradford Dart, was born April 14, 1943, in Austin, Indiana. He was retired from the U.S. Army where he served his country honorably for over 27 years. During his distinguished military career, he received numerous medals and ribbons to include the Army Commendation Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal; Overseas Service Bars; and Overseas Service Ribbon. SSG Dart enjoyed panning for gold and was a member of the Gold Panning Association. He was also a member of Alpha Baptist Church in Deputy, Indiana.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sheryl Collins and Nancy Peacock.
SSG Dart is survived by his wife of 45 years, Donna Marie Dart of Smiths Station; one daughter, Malinda Marie Gilmore and her husband Steven of Phenix City; two sons, Everitt Dewain Dart of Phenix City, AL and Kenneth John Dart and his wife Victoria of Lawrenceville, Georgia; one brother, Dale Glenn Dart of Brownstown, Indiana; four grandchildren, Ryder Dart, Sabrina Dart, Christopher Shane Snipes, and Emily Marie Snipes; Son in law; Joshua Snipes; many other relatives and friends.
