Reuben Archer Corbitt, Sr., 77, of Phenix City, AL passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EDT Monday, May 1, 2017 at Golden Acres Baptist Church with Rev. Sammy Turner officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT at the funeral home.
Mr. Corbitt was born August 9, 1939 in Seale, AL to the late Reuben Glen Corbitt and Mary Alice Jackson Corbitt. He served our country and was retired from the United States Air force with 21 years of service. He later served with the Civil Service and retired after 26 years in Medical Distribution. He was a member of Golden Acres Baptist Church and had a passion for collecting, NASCAR, and the Atlanta Braves. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Carlton Glen Corbitt, and a sister, Betty Johnson.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Doris Rebecca “Becky” Neal Corbitt, children, Reuben “Arty” Archer Corbitt, Jr., Linda Whitehead and husband James, and Robert Corbitt and wife Amanda; three sisters, Barbara Ferreira and husband Tom, Patricia Dennison and husband Ken, and Glenda Faye McDanial, three brothers, James Corbitt and wife Janie, Jerry Wayne Corbitt and wife Barbara, and Dell Corbitt; (17) grandchildren, Bo Berdeaux (Katherine), Reuben J. Berdeaux, Ashley N. Kerce (Josh), Jonathan K. Klein (Beth), Kayla Melrold (Anthony), Ashley Whitehead, Jessie Brookins, Tracey Corbitt (Christy), Kacey Corbitt, Allen Corbitt (Samantha), Blake Hamer, Caitleigh Hamer, JT Corbitt, Spencer Corbitt, Trenton Corbitt, Kyle Corbitt, Gage Corbitt, (21) great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Berdeaux, Alex Berdeaux, Bethany Berdeaux, Brien Berdeaux, Mason Berdeaux, Jackson Green, Remington Berdeaux, Mallory Berdeaux, Abigail Kerce, Emily Kerce, Nathan Kerce, Lorelai E. Klein, Ezra A. Klein, Mason Berdeaux, Lawson Melrold, Ivy Corbitt, Trace Prickett, Bryson Corbitt, Steven Whitehead, Tyler Brookins, Natalie Brookins , and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many caring friends. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to the Disabled American Veterans or the Wounded Warriors Project in memory of Mr. Corbitt.
