Rev. Billy J. Cotton

Rev. Billy J. Cotton, 71, of Opelika, AL passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at The Bethany House in Opelika.

A committal service will be held 1:00 pm Monday, March 19, 2018 at Lakeview Memory Gardens. Family and friends are welcome to visit Vance Memorial Chapel on Sunday from 9 am until 4 pm as Mr. Cotton will lie in state with a closed casket.

Mr. Cotton was born June 22, 1946 in Columbus, GA to Ben Cotton and Bertie Mae Parker Cotton. He dedicated his life to sharing the message of Christ and His saving grace. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by several siblings and a grandson, Liam Gause.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Sheila Cotton; children, Michelle Scruggs and husband Rev. David Scruggs, and their son Dominic; Janet Gause and husband Steve, and their children Lucas and Olivia; and Tammy Blackerby and husband Richard, and their son Zac; one sister, Betty Schram; several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many caring friends. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to your favorite charity in honor of Mr. Cotton.
