Rev. Rodger William Milling, Sr., 79, of Phenix City, AL entered into Heaven on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 while at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, GA with his family by his side.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM (EST) on Saturday, March 14, 2020 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with his sons, Rev. David Milling and Rev. Mark Milling officiating. Active pallbearers will be Andrew Perkins, Caleb Milling, Paul Statham, Phillip Riley, Jim Combs and Tim Pyron. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodger William Thomas, Greg Statham, Kenneth Brown, Rev. Frank Fagan, Jimmy Hodge and Perry Gwin. Committal services will be held at Lakeview Memory Gardens with the Rev. Alan Griffith officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, March 13, 2020 from 5:00 till 7:00 PM (EST) at the funeral home.
Rev. Milling was born July 01, 1940 in Piedmont, AL son of the late David Leon Milling and Vera Evelyn Sieber Milling. He was a former Drum Major for Central High School, a member of Central Baptist Church and had retired from the State of GA as the Maintenance Supervisor for the Jack T. Rutledge Correctional Center. Rev. Milling served as Pastor at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church and White Rock Free Will Baptist Church and ministered in several other churches as needed. Rev. Milling served as a Trustee for the Free Will Baptist Children’s Home in Eldridge, AL for over 20 years. He was an avid Alabama Football fan, enjoying the games with family and friends as often as possible. We will miss him in our daily routine; however, we know he is safely in the arms of Jesus in Heaven.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Patricia E. Statham Milling, Phenix City, AL; four children, Rodger W. Milling, Jr., Rev. Mark S. Milling and Rev. David L. Milling (Sharon) both of Nashville, TN; daughter, Rebecca Joy Milling Baird (Michael), Columbus, OH; four grandchildren, Rodger William Thomas, David Andrew Perkins (Taylor), Caleb L. Milling (Callie) and Bethany Rose Milling; six great-grandchildren; numerous other family members and friends also survive.
