Reverend Carrie Allison Wilcox

Reverend Carrie Allison Wilcox, 46, of Midland, GA passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at her residence in Midland, GA.  A funeral service will be held at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Saturday, October 01, 2016 beginning at 11:00 A.M. EST with the Reverend Eugene Wiseman officiating and Reverend Heather Scarbrough assisting.  The family will receive friends Friday, September 30, 2016 at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. EST.  A service will also be held on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Malone Funeral Home, 325 Malone Lane, Grayson, KY with visitation prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 A.M.

Reverend Wilcox was born March 6, 1970 in Ashland, KY to Dwight Leslie Wilcox and Marcella Frances King Wilcox.  She was a member of Harmony Church of the Nazarene in Woodbury, GA. She was the Resident Advisor at the Roosevelt Institute in Warm Springs, GA.  She obtained her graduate degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN and obtained a Masters in Counseling from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia.  She loved her church, sketching and her students.

Reverend Wilcox completed her ministerial studies during the years of 2008 through 2013 with the Georgia District Church of the Nazarene and became an ordained Elder in May, 2013.  From June 2009 until December, 2011 she served as the Associate Pastor with Reverend Heather Scarbrough at the Brunswick Grace Community Church of the Nazarene in Brunswick, GA.  Since January, 2012  she was serving at the Harmony Church of the Nazarene in Woodbury, GA as the Associate Pastor of Educational Ministries with the Reverend Eugene Wisemen.    

Reverened Wilcox is preceded in death by her step-father, William “Bill” Stapleton; her fraternal grandparents, Frank and Mary Wilcox; and her maternal grandparents, Watt King and Dallas and Thelma King Adams.

Survivors include her father, Dwight Wilcox (Christine) of Ashland, KY; her mother, Marcella Stapleton of Midland, GA, formerly of Flatwoods, KY.  Her nearest family members were a special first cousin, Heather Scarbrough and her children, Kameron and Kolby from Columbus, GA and Uncle Gene and Aunt Jenny Wiseman from Woodbury, GA.  She has a host of other aunts, uncles and cousins from various states. 

In Lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted for Roosevelt Institute and mailed to:  Roosevelt Warm Springs Development Fund, P.O. Box 1050, Warm Springs, GA 31830-1000 and/or Harmony Church of the Nazarene, 4220 Harmony Church Road, Woodbury, GA 30293.
