Rhonda K. Gillespie

Mrs. Rhonda Rowell Gillespie, 61, of Phenix City, AL died Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.

A private chapel service will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. The interment will be at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery, Buchanan, GA.

Mrs. Gillespie was born on December 4, 1958 in Jacksonville, AL, daughter of the late Hubert D. Rowell and Eula Dunn Rowell.  She earned her Associates Degree and worked as an LPN for many years.  Mrs. Gillespie is probably best known as the office manager at Fred’s Tire Center.  Her hobbies included being an avid reader, gardening, arts & crafts and collecting antiques.  Mrs. Gillespie loved animals deeply and rescued many cats over the years.  However, her greatest love was spending time with her family.

 Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Denny Rowell.

 Mrs. Gillespie is survived by her sons, Jason Gillespie and wife Rajae of Jacksonville, AL and Michael Johnson of Mobile, AL; a daughter, Dana Gillespie of Phenix City, AL; brothers, Fred Rowell of Seale, AL, Tommy Rowell and wife Linda of Phenix City, AL, Terry Rowell and wife Kathy of Smiths Station, AL and Ernie Rowell and wife Betty of Seale, AL; grandchildren, Aya Gillespie, Jacob Johnson, Drake Johnson, Alyssa Johnson and Gryffin Johnson; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
