Richard Allen Litavecz

Richard Allen Litavecz, 80, of Opelika, AL, formally of Phenix City, AL, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Arbor Springs Health Care Facility in Opelika, AL. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am EST Thursday (today) at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Father Bruce Krause officiating. A private interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens and the family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Mr. Litavecz was born October 30, 1932 in Chicago, IL to the late Andrew J. Litavecz and Catharine Edna Hunt Litavecz. He was a veteran of the US Army and retired as a security guard from Wells Fargo. He enjoyed woodworking projects and family and was Catholic by faith. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Grimes Litavecz and (2) brothers, Andrew Litavecz and James Litavecz. He is survived by his daughter, Geraldine Thogmartin, husband Ken of ID; son, Richard Flander Litavecz of CA; sister, Catharine Litavecz Barnes, husband Joel of Opelika, AL; 5 grandchildren, Dana, Barry, Ryan, Eric and Jeremy; 1 great grandchild; much extended family and many caring friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Catholic Social Services in Montgomery, AL or your favorite charity.
