Richard "Rick" Durand Garner, 36, of Smiths Station, AL passed away Saturday, December 14, 2019 in Claxton, GA.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm EST on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Rev. Skip Speed officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 pm EST prior to service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Rick was born January 3, 1983 in Columbus, GA to Cindy Baker McBride and the late Richard Allen Garner. He had worked in construction for several years, he was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan, he loved the reflection of the art of his tattoos; he enjoyed working out and staying fit, reading his Bible and letters from home, and he loved music of various styles and loved hearing David play and sing; but above all, he loved his family. He was a Baptist by faith. Other than his father, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Kayne Avery Garner.
He is survived by his mother, Cindy Baker McBride and his step-father David McBride, whom loved him as his own son; his son, Kaleb John Garner, one sister, Skylar McBride, two brothers, Zackary Garner, and Jacob Garner, maternal grandparents, Harvey and Anita Baker, and paternal grandmother, Jackie Garner, great grandmother, Grandmaw Crowder, cousin and best friend, Kyle Hargraves, numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, and a host of friends.
