Richie Lamar Person, Jr.

July 28, 1988 – October 9, 2016

Richie Lamar Person, Jr., 28, of Columbus, GA  passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at his residence.  A funeral service will be held at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 beginning at 12:00 P.M. EST, with Pastor Carlos Hughes  officiating.  The interment will conclude the service at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. EST.  After the service at Fort Mitchell, the family will have friends and family at their home.  Food and drinks are welcomed.

Richie was born July 28, 1988 in Warburg, Germany to Richard Lee Person and Elenita Evangelista Person. 

Richie was a very curious and active little boy.  He was active in his high school band and in JROTC.  After he graduated from high school, he decided to join the United States Air Force with his sister, Danisha.  His job was a security forces military police and he was stationed at MacDil Air Force Base in Tampa, FL.  He also served three deployments in Iraq.  When he decided to get out of active duty and serve in the Air Force Reserves, he found his way to God.  Richie decided to get baptized and start a relationship with God.  He attended the Bethesda Pentecostal Church in Tampa, FL.  He loved writing, playing video games, reading his Bible, attending church, listening to gospel music and playing basketball.   

Richie will be remembered by his big heart, beautiful smile, wise soul and his love for God and his care for helping others. 

Richie is predeceased by his paternal grandfather, James Person Exezen Person; his maternal grandparents, Loreto and Reynonda Evangelista; an Uncle, Adolfo Evangelista; and his cousins:  Quiera and Keisha Person.

Survivors include his loving parents, Richard Lee Person and Elenita Evangelista Person; one sister, Danisha Person of Columbus, GA; nephews:  Deion Wilson, Davonn Wilson; one niece, Amia Wilkes; as well as many cousins, uncles and aunts. 

Richie is also survived by his second family:  Zay (best friend), Katrina, Arteshia (Sister), Jamaica, April, Frank and Doniesha; all of his military friends, childhood friends, church family and any other person that was touched by his wonderful spirit. 

Pallbearers will be Xazier Martin, Frank Stanford, Jamie Person, Brian Moore, Dontrell Fletcher, Devante Griffin, Jessie Williams and Aaron Duggon.
