Robert "Big Bob" Joseph Befort-Rogers

Robert Joseph “Big Bob” Rogers, 70, of Smiths Station, AL passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 in the comfort of his home.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 2:30 pm EST Friday, January 27, 2017 at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery with Father Jeremiah McCarthy officiating.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at Vance Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Rogers was born October 26, 1946 in Hays, KS to the late Robert Joseph Befort and Cecelia Nell Evans Rogers.  He was retired from Sony in Texas and served as Director of Operations.  He served our country proudly and was a Veteran of the United States Army.  He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, a member of the VFW 5228 in Smiths Station, and was a member of the DAV.  He enjoyed playing golf, watching all sorts of sports, and was a big Texas Longhorn and Dallas Cowboys fan.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Charles L. Rogers, who loved and raised him as his own son.

He is survived by his children, Christina L. Summers of Smiths Station, AL, Tonya M. Seguin and husband Paul of Columbus, GA, and Robert Jon Rogers and wife Bonnie of Pine Mountain Valley, GA; two sisters, Alexia Venglik of Las Vegas, NV, and Debra Lee Miller of Phoenix, AZ, (7) grandchildren, Mark R. Summers (Will), Michael R. Summers, Chelsy Summers, Justin P. Seguin, Madison Seguin, Clayton J. Rogers, and Joel D. Rogers, a host of extended loving family members and many caring friends.  Everyone is invited to meet at Vance Memorial Chapel on Friday by 1:45 pm to leave in procession for Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.
