CW-4 (Ret) Robert M Allen, 86, of Phenix City, Alabama, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at his residence with his family by his side.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM EST on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home located at 3738 U.S. Highway 431 North, Phenix City, Alabama 36867, with Colonel (Chaplain) Jeffrey Hawkins, retired officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM EST at the funeral home.
Mr. Allen was born in Cedar Key, Florida, the son of the late Maple Allen and Mattie Mae Jones Allen. After high school, Mr. Allen enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country for twenty-one years. After he retired from active duty, he became self employed as a co-owner of a construction company that painted water towers. After he sold his interest in the business, he learned the trade of cabinet making and woodworking. This led to him becoming the Division Chair for Construction and Production at Columbus Technical College, where he retired a second time. “Bob” as he was known to his friends, enjoyed hunting and fishing in his leisure time. Mr. Allen was proud to be called a Christian and was a life-long follower of Jesus Christ. He was a member at Harvest Point Church of the Nazarene. Above all, he loved and cherished the time he was able to spend with each of his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Allen was preceded in death by a sister Nellie Mae Allen and a brother Edward Allen.
Those left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 65 years Havilan G. Allen; sons Randolph “Bud” Allen (Terri) of Columbus, GA and Timothy D. Allen (Leila) of Salem, AL; one sister Maplene Sharp of Chiefland, FL; brothers Raymond Allen (Sandra) of Chiefland, FL, Kenneth Allen (Claudia) of Dublin, GA and Rex Allen of Dublin, GA; grandchildren Mollie Holt (Matthew), Katie Powell (Brandon), Angela Peck (Caleb) and Jennifer Mays (Jason); great grandchildren Blythe, Juliette, Jack, Rowan, Maebree, Jones, Jessie and Clara and a host of extended family, friends and church family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requesting contributions be made to Columbus Hospice House 7020 Moon Road Columbus, GA 31909.
