Robert Arnold Massey, Sr. 87, of Phenix City, AL passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am EST Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Boyd Cochran and Rev. Phillip Gowan officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home.
Mr. Massey was born November 23, 1929 in Columbus, GA to the late Leslie Arnold Massey and Ethel Mae Duke Fiveash. He was retired and had work with Reese Construction Company. He was Pentecostal by faith and was a Gospel song leader for many-many years. He enjoyed singing, and playing the drums during Gospel gatherings. He served our country and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lee Massey, and two sisters, Judy Parson, and Betty Curry.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Jewel Keller Massey, one daughter, Deborah Medley, two sons, Robert Arnold Massey, Jr., and Timothy Woodrow Massey, all of Phenix City, AL; (4) grandchildren, Chris Medley and wife Allison, Alison Powell and husband Scott, Chance Massey, and Shelley Massey, (9) great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many caring friends.
